APPLE DUMPLINGS

This unusual recipe is surprisingly good.  Try with Coeur d'Alene Cellars Chenin Blanc..

4 tart apples
2 cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
1/2 cup butter
1 1/2 cups sugar

​1 teaspoon vanilla
1 small can (6 ounces) Mountain Dew or Sprite
cinnamon
icecream

Peel and core apples and cut into 4 slices each.  Roll each apple slice in a crescent roll.  Place in a 9-by 13-inch buttered pan.

Melt butter, then add sugar and barely stir.  Add vanilla, stir.  Pour over apples.  Pour pop around the edges of the pan.  Sprinkle with cinnamon.  Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.  Serve with ice cream and spoon some of the sauce from pan over the top.  8 servings.
