You can make this a day ahead and keep chilled until ready to serve.  Ladyfingers are light, delicate sponge cakes shaped as their name implies, most often found in bakery section of grocery stores.  Experiment with chocolate cake, and white chocolate pudding with peppermint, or other flavors.  Serve with Coeur d'Alene Cellars No.6 White.

1 package instant vanilla pudding and pie mix
Required amount of milk for mix
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
2 tablespoons Amaretto or Cointreau (optional)

15 ladyfingers
1 (20-ounce) can cherry pie filling or any fruit in slightly thickened syrup
2 medium bananas
Cool Whip

Make pudding according to package directions, adding vanilla and apertif.

Layer split ladyfingers in bottom of straight sided glass bowl.  Cover with fruit and syrup, bananas; then pudding.  Repeat layers. 

Chill at least 8 hours.  Top with Cool Whip and Serve.  Serves 8.
